چکیده
Although there is a developing strand of literature on young people’s participation in environmental activism, have been few systematic comparisons their different forms activism. This article compares the people and older counterparts climate change marches Global Climate Strikes (GCSs). The agential structural factors that draw into protest are, general terms, well recognized. However, it also recognized lead to particular types certain issues might not be same as those issues. In this article, we keep issue constant (climate change), make across (marches school strikes). We coin term “mobilization availability”, which useful way understand why are differentially mobilized protest. Our notion mobilization availability invites scholars consider importance interplay supply demand for understanding who protests why. analyse data collected using standardized survey methodology ( n = 643). order account response rate bias, an acute problem when studying responses, weighted propensity score adjustments. find youth-oriented evoked by GCS higher numbers than did more adult-dominated marches. providing accessible protest, reduced degree required encourage streets, emotionally engaging them. Indeed, surveyed at GCSs were considerably angry adult counterparts, angrier other protests. conceptual empirical innovations paper important contribution political participation.

متن کاملUrban growth, climate change, and freshwater availability.
Nearly 3 billion additional urban dwellers are forecasted by 2050, an unprecedented wave of urban growth. While cities struggle to provide water to these new residents, they will also face equally unprecedented hydrologic changes due to global climate change. Here we use a detailed hydrologic model, demographic projections, and climate change scenarios to estimate per-capita water availability ...

Global temperatures have increased in the past 100 years by an average of 0.74°C (IPCC, 2013), with minimum temperatures increasing faster than maximum temperatures and winter temperatures increasing faster than summer temperatures (IPCC, 2013). Total annual rainfall tends to increase at the higher latitudes and near the equator, while rainfall in the sub-tropics is likely to decline and become...
متن کاملRecent climate observations compared to projections.
We present recent observed climate trends for carbon dioxide concentration, global mean air temperature, and global sea level, and we compare these trends to previous model projections as summarized in the 2001 assessment report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The IPCC scenarios and projections start in the year 1990, which is also the base year of the Kyoto protocol, i...
متن کاملRelationships among School Climate Domains and School Satisfaction
This study investigated the magnitude of the relationships between eight school climate domains and a measure of global school satisfaction among 2,049 middle and high school students. Tests of moderator effects were conducted to determine if the magnitude of the relationships between the school climate domains and school satisfaction differed as a function of students’ gender, grade, age, GPA,...
